Introduction

In the early days of our company, we whipped up a marketing site in a bit of a hurry, and, well, it ended up looking more like a digital, tech, or data center hub than a place tailor-made for the vibrant world of construction. In response to the initial oversight of our hastily assembled marketing site, our recent redesign focuses on aligning every aspect with the specific needs of our construction audience. Emphasizing projects, team, and equipment management as core pillars, the site strikes a balance between visual appeal and informative content to provide valuable insights. Introducing a transparent pricing page empowers users with clear information, while seamless integration facilitates user engagement and adoption of our web and mobile app solutions tailored exclusively to the construction sector, ensuring an authentic representation of our commitment to serve this industry.

Goal: From This to This

In our pursuit of enhancing the CrewView marketing site, our primary objective was to establish a stronger resonance with our industry demographic, particularly within the construction sector. We endeavored to elevate the site’s appeal by incorporating elements that not only align with the specific needs and preferences of professionals in the construction industry but also reflect a more mature and bold aesthetic. By carefully curating the visual and textual elements, we aimed to create an online presence that not only caters to the practical requirements of our target audience but also exudes a sense of sophistication and confidence. This comprehensive approach involved strategic design choices, content refinement, and an overall reimagining of the user experience to ensure that the refreshed CrewView site stands out as a distinguished and compelling platform within the construction landscape.

A Sitemap for a New Site

Leveraging the application Octopus.do, I crafted a detailed sitemap that played a dual role in our UX strategy—streamlining engineering and development while providing a clear plan for design and planning. This foundational document guided development teams efficiently, ensuring alignment between user experience vision and technical implementation. The intentional design allowed for building the right features in the right sequence, fostering a cohesive and user-centric experience. Moreover, it laid the groundwork for future improvements, demonstrating a forward-thinking approach that anticipates evolving user needs and digital trends.

A New Home for CrewView

Our revamped homepage isn’t just a redesign; it’s a bold reimagining of how users engage with our solutions. We wanted to create a full-page experience that invites users to immerse themselves in the depth of each section, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of our offerings. The layout is intentionally crafted to be visually striking, making every section stand out prominently. This approach allows users to seamlessly dive into project management, team and time management, equipment management, and our mobile and web app offerings with immersive visuals and detailed content. By making each part of our solutions more bold and engaging, we aim to captivate users from the moment they land on the page, providing them with a truly immersive experience that resonates with the dynamic and fast-paced nature of the construction industry.

Solutions Up the Wazoo!

In shaping the UX strategy for CrewView, our primary focus was on accentuating solutions tailored to address our users’ core challenges, such as project and task management, team and time management, and equipment tracking and management. An integral part of this strategy involved implementing a consistent hero image blade style and content presentation. This deliberate choice not only streamlined development and sustainability but also aimed to create a customer experience that is modern yet visually easy to understand. Our commitment extended to providing versatile solutions, including a robust web app and ensuring a seamless offline experience on mobile devices, empowering users with a comprehensive suite of tools for the dynamic landscape of project management.

The Price is Right

Entering the early stages of application development, our marketing site lacked a pricing page. As we embarked on customer onboarding, we seized the opportunity to introduce transparent pricing structures. The creation of a new pricing page became imperative to communicate the value proposition of our offerings effectively. With distinct Starter, Pro, and Enterprise packages, we aimed to cater to diverse user needs while providing clarity on the cost associated with our services. This addition not only addressed the immediate need for customer information but also set the stage for a transparent and accessible pricing model aligned with the evolving stages of our application offerings.

Who Said Blogging is Dead?

Recognizing the importance of fostering a dynamic online presence, we embarked on the initiative to build a blog that serves dual purposes. Beyond enhancing organic web traffic and SEO, our goal was to establish a valuable resource hub for our clientele and potential customers. The blog became a platform to share up-to-date insights, resources, and industry knowledge, providing a space where users could stay informed about the latest trends and developments. This strategic move not only contributed to our digital marketing strategy but also reinforced our commitment to delivering value beyond our core offerings, establishing a deeper connection with our audience through informative and relevant content.

CrewView: First Contact

In updating our contact page, we transformed a routine task into a delightful user experience. By infusing intuitive design and creative elements, we turned this interface into an engaging and user-friendly space. The goal was to make reaching out not just easy but also a memorable and positive interaction.

Marketing Materials

As a bonus in the startup environment, I expanded my design skills beyond digital interfaces, creating impactful marketing materials like mailing cards, business cards, and brochures, and even expo booth popups and a pop-up tent. This demonstrated versatility in maintaining a cohesive brand identity across various touchpoints, showcasing my ability to translate design principles into tangible, effective collateral.

Conclusion

In steering the evolution of the marketing website, I led a comprehensive transformation from start to finish, initiating a brand new site refresh that encompassed a redesigned sitemap and the creation of new pages—all with the overarching goal of enhancing the user experience for our customers. The design was meticulously crafted not only to meet current needs but also with versatility in mind for seamless integration of future updates. The strategic approach ensures that as new features come onboard, the website remains adaptable, allowing for quick and efficient modifications. This forward-thinking design philosophy ensures the longevity and relevance of the marketing website, aligning it dynamically with the evolving landscape of our offerings and user expectations.
