I led the UX design for Energy Safe Kids (ESK), crafting a fun and dynamic educational website that provides valuable resources for teachers and engaging learning experiences for students. The site needed to support a flexible structure that separated or combined content based on the user type (teacher or student) and the topic (electrical or natural gas safety).
For teachers, the site offers educational resources to support their lessons, while students can explore interactive and engaging content, including videos, games, booklets, and other learning materials.
A key challenge of this project was ensuring the site was highly adaptable for ESK’s sponsors. With potentially dozens of sponsor-specific versions of the site, the design needed to accommodate custom branding, sponsor logos, and content preferences. A sponsor could choose to feature only electrical safety, only natural gas, or both, requiring a dynamic and flexible content structure.

Additionally, we designed the site to be fully responsive for mobile devices, ensuring a seamless experience for students accessing the content on tablets and smartphones. This adaptability made the platform versatile and accessible across different devices and learning environments.
A highlight of this project was incorporating ESK’s in-house artist’s vibrant illustrations and cartoon characters, adding energy and excitement to the design. The result is an intuitive, engaging, and customizable platform that makes learning about energy safety both fun and educational while meeting the needs of multiple sponsors.
